据温哥华太阳报于1月31日星期四报道，虽然中国科技巨擘华为的副董事长孟晚舟可能要在温哥华，面对引渡聆讯，但华为将在卑诗省进行偏远地区的宽频技术测试，并于2月1日星期五，华为将与卑诗小型电讯供应商ABC通讯公布计划。

计划的目标是提高Williams Lake以北地区的上网速度，并作为全国偏远社区同类服务的测试。
