新斯高沙省（Nova Scotia）采金业经历一段沉寂岁月后终于露出曙光，省府批出的开采牌照在去年大幅增加，反映愈来愈多采金公司重振旗鼓，务求能够在这股新淘金热分一杯羹。

新斯高沙省天然资源厅表示，去年批出的开采牌照从259增至417张，涉及的开采面积由35,000公顷增至97,000公顷，虽然开采并非全部是金矿，但黄金是很多开采商的主要目标。
大西洋黄金公司（Atlantic Gold Corp，CVE：AGB）在新斯高沙省拥有4个金矿，根据该公司去年对Fifteen Mile Lake金矿进行的研究，这个金矿蕴藏的黄金样本较为特殊，可望支持其金矿计划穆斯河综合项目 （Moose River Consolidated Project），在Touquoy金矿今年9月开幕后继续蓬勃发展。

预计可创造大量职位

Touquoy金矿首年产金量预料达到87,000盎司，以现在每盎司金价超过1,200美元计算，将会带来丰厚收益计算，足以驱使大西洋黄金与其他矿业公司涌往东岸地区（Eastern Shore）淘金。
纽芬兰矿业公司Anaconda（TSX：ANX）亦在哈里法斯（Halifax）东北185公里的Goldboro地区购入一个金矿，准备3年内把其开采的矿石运返纽芬兰加工。
在现阶段，新斯高沙省的金矿能否进一步开采有待环保评估结果，但预期淘金热可望创造大量新职位，令到矿务人员不再投闲置散。
