央街物业税大增争议持续 餐厅额外收35分帮补交税

多伦多市中心央街(Yonge Street)物业税大增争议持续,虽然当局早前已经减低部分小商户的税率增幅,但商户仍然叫苦连天,有餐厅把新增税务负担转嫁消费者,向顾客额外征收35仙以筹募税款。

根据2017年物业评估,部分央街商户的地税飙升近倍,商户在联手抗议下于9月获得重新估值,一般税款升幅可减少40%至50%,一些涉及文物保育计划的建筑物更可大减多达70%。

不过许多受影响的小商户仍对于物业税增加感到吃不消,餐厅Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen决定将税款转嫁顾客身上,不论顾客惠顾多少金额,一律向每宗交易征收35仙“调整费”,借此帮补增加的物业税。

一间皮革公司东主吉亚里斯(George Giaouris)则比喻指︰“现在好像取走一个人的氧气,之后让你每分钟吸三下氧气作补偿。”吉亚里斯表示,去年已需缴交每月4千元物业税,今年的税款增加一倍,至今还未知悉重估后的税款。

吉亚里斯又认为,其公司向顾客征收调整费不可行,因为他不想向顾客苛索太多。亦有商户表示,不想为加税而结业,但经营环境实在非常困难,一些小商户被迫减少员工数目、加价或增加营业时间来应变。
