英国发现传染力超强的新冠病毒株后，荷兰、丹麦、澳洲也发现这种变种病毒。世界卫生组织（WHO）表示，正就变种病毒与英国官员密切联系，呼吁欧洲各国加强防疫措施。

世卫组织报告称，源自英国的开始在在世界各地传播，丹麦、荷兰和澳洲都发现了这种变种。世卫组织专家玛丽亚．范．科霍夫作出了上述表示。

范．科霍夫说，在英国东南部发现了一种新型冠状病毒，这种病毒之后开始在其他国家传播。“我们不断地看到检测到了新型冠状病毒变种。重要的是要研究它们，看它们是如何传播的，以及它们会带来什么后果。”

2月19日，英国新发呼吸道病毒威胁咨询小组证实，在该国发现的新型冠状病毒正在快速传播，要求居民更加小心。英国科学家指出，新病毒在遗传物质上与普通病毒有23个不同处，过去一周的新增病例中，近60%是这种新毒株。
