英語學習：申請專上教育經濟援助

You want to take a full-time diploma course in Accounting, but you find the tuition fees very high. You are worried, because you do not have an income and your husband is still looking for work. You later learn that financial aid is offered at the institution you plan to attend. You go to the Financial Aid Office to ask whether you are eligible for their student assistance program.

A: I’d like some information on student assistance. I’m enrolled in your one-year Accounting program. Am I eligible for any form of financial aid?

B: Are you a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?

A: I’m a landed immigrant.

B: That’s fine. As a landed immigrant, you are eligible for the Canada Student Loan (CSL) and the provincial student assistance program.

A: How much can I apply for? Do I have to repay the entire amount right after graduation?

B: The amount varies according to individual needs. You apply for both the federal and provincial assistance programs in the same application. CSL is a federal loan, which must be repaid over a period of time after graduation. The provincial program, however, is a combination of grants and loans. Please take this application and guidebook with you; it explains everything in detail.

你想修讀一項全日制會計文憑課程。但你覺得學費很貴，你很煩惱，因為你沒有收入，而你丈夫仍在尋找工作。後來你知道在你入讀的學院有經濟援助。你便到經濟援助處去，問問你是否夠資格申請他們的學生援助計劃。

乙：申請的款項多少視乎個人需要。你可在同一申請內一起申請聯邦政府和省政府的援助計劃。CSL是聯邦貸款，在畢業後一段時間內一定要繳還。而省政府的計劃是有助學金和貸款之分的，請你取一份申請表和指南，裏面有詳細的說明。
