近年，氣候變得異常極端。 截至去年10月南中國7次遭受熱帶氣旋吹襲，其中四個熱帶氣旋強 度更達八級或以上。然而，去年 尾及今年初，卻出現極端嚴寒天 氣。2月1日更錄得低至攝氏四 度！ 全球各地都相繼出現不同程度的天氣反常異象，水災、旱災 等天災經常發生。因此，極端氣候變化是全球人類很重大的社會議題（Social Issues）。以下教授十個關於「極端氣候變化」的詞彙。
1、Induce (v) 導致 例句：In recent years, some human activities may induce global warming.（近年，某些人類活動 可能導致全球暖化。）
2、Attribute to (v phr) 歸因於 例 句 ： Recently , some extreme weather events have been attributed to the burning of fossil fuels.（最近，一些極端天氣現象被歸因於人類使用化石燃料。）
3、Monetize (v) 以金錢去衡量例句 ： Some impacts , including the loss of human lives and ecosystems, are difficult to be valued and monetized. Therefore, they are poorly reflected in the estimated losses.（我們難以把人命 傷亡和生態系統的破壞進行估價 和以金錢去衡量。因此，很難把 這些傷亡和影響，反映在預期損 失中。）

7、Susceptible (adj) 容易受 傷害或影響的 例 句 ： Dried soils are susceptible to erosion, reducing the size of land available for agriculture.（乾燥的土壤容易受到侵蝕，因而縮減了可用於農業的土地面積。）
8、Devastating (adj) 破壞性的 例句：The evaporation of sea water can be devastating to marine organisms and reduce the size of marine habitats.（當海洋的水被蒸發，這可能會對海洋生物構成威脅，並減少海洋棲息地的大小。）
9、Livestock (n) 家畜 例句：As the amount of food present within the ecosystem is reduced, the amount of livestock and other animal populations may drop as well.（由於生態系統內的 食物量減少，家畜和其他動物的物種數量也可能下降。）
