這個年代人人都有部手機，拍照不一定要人幫忙，可以拍selfie。 Selfie是自拍，把日常生活，到過的有趣地方拍下來，還可以立即與人分享，十分方便，但不知大家有沒有留意，自拍的照片里，自己的樣子總像是有點怪怪的。
「扭曲」觀感
專家指出，問題是鼻子。拍selfie通常是自己伸長手來拍，手的長度有限，所以通常鏡頭是距離面部約十二吋。整容手術專業期刊JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery最近有文章指出：
Taking selfies at a distance of about 12 inches from the face increases perceived nose size by nearly 30%.
Perceive解interpret or regard someone or something in a certain way，把某事看作……。 Perceive是主觀的印象，並不一定是事實。原來selfie拍出來的照片，鼻子比真實的大了30%。
鏡頭的角度，人物與鏡頭的距離、焦距，都可造成distortion，令影像扭曲，這情況原來很多人都不知道，看見selfie中自己的鼻子大，就認為鼻子真的過大，很多人竟然因為這樣，跑去找整容醫生，要求動手術把鼻子縮小。
這不是個別例子。
美國整形醫師協會報告指︰
55% of surgeons（外科醫生）reported having patients who said they were seeking cosmetic procedures（整容手術）to improve their perceived appearance in selfies or other photos posted on social media in 2017, up from 42% in 2016.
遇上這類「病人」，醫生當然會告訴他們selfie的distortion問題，勸他們打消整容的念頭。是否會有人因為不滿selfie的影像而堅持要把鼻子弄小，報道沒有詳述，但鼻子整形的手術總數就的確上升了。
自信心低落
Selfie可以扭曲面容，造成erroneous perception，錯誤的觀感、看法、錯覺。另一種問題更大的erroneous perception，原來是我們的self-image，整體的自我形象。這種錯覺可以造成low self-esteem，自尊心、自信心低落。
Low self-esteem affects every aspect of our lives, from our career choices（事業的選擇）to our relationships, creating a life that leaves us feeling unaccepted（不被接受）and unfulfilled（未得到滿足）.When we feel that we are not good enough, we may avoid work and social opportunities and settle for less than we deserve.
覺得自己不足、處處不如人，機會在面前都不敢嘗試，事業上、生命中的很多良機，往往就白白錯過了。
有專家指出：
Often people try to prop up（撐起）their confidence with efforts to become their image of perfection（完美）. This great effort usually involves reinforcing（加強） the belief that we should be that fictional image. The result is a stronger mechanism for self rejection.
Overcoming Low Self-Esteem with Mindfulness的作者Deborah Ward認為，要糾正對自我形象的錯誤觀感，需要的是mindfulness，這包括”being non-judgemental”，不要用批判的眼光看自己：”simply accept ourselves, our experiences, our failures and successes and other people just as they are, neither good or bad, without pride or shame.”應該用不卑不亢的態度看別人、看自己。
