智利民眾抗議地鐵加價引發的示威持續，至今造成超過20人死亡，7000多人被捕。檢察官說，正調查800多宗有關警方使用過份武力及強姦示威者的指控，並會尋求法院授權拘留涉嫌虐待示威者的14名警員。

智利總統皮涅拉（Sebastián Piñera，上圖）承諾，會以應對暴徒同樣的力度，起訴濫權的警察及士兵，強調任何時候及任何情況下，都完全尊重人權，他早前宣布進入緊急狀態時，已經要求武裝部隊遵守國際使用武力的規定。

正擔任聯合國人權事務高級專員的智利前總統巴切萊特（Michelle Bachelet），亦派出小組到智利，與懷疑受害人會面。
