美國全國廣播公司(NBC)報道，白宮國家安全委員會已向總統特朗普提出一系列對付北韓的選擇方案，包括刺殺金正恩及重新在南韓部署核武等。

不過，有分析家警告這樣做要冒上很大政治風險。國安會的其中一項建議，是在距離首爾八十公里外的烏山空軍基地部署核武。另一個方案是把金正恩置諸死地，並剷除所有負責核子和導彈項目的北韓領袖和高層官員，但分析家認為充滿風險，尤其要顧及中國的反應。
